A few days ago, I got a call from someone I hadn’t heard from in years. The conversation started with, “𝘐 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱.”
𝐌𝐲 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭? 𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺? A𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦?
But then, I caught myself.
We all have that moment, 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘸𝘦?
When we wonder why people only seem to reach out when they need something. It feels UNFAIR, maybe even 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭.
But then a different hashtag#perspective struck me—one that changed everything.
𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐞. It’s not something we think about daily. It doesn’t sit at the center of our attention. But the moment darkness falls, it’s the first thing we reach for—a source of hashtag#light and hashtag#reassurance.
And 𝘪𝘴𝘯’𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨?
If someone remembers me in their time of need, it’s not because they forgot me—it’s because they trust me. They believe I can bring hashtag#clarity, hashtag#hope, or a way forward.
So hashtag#now, I don’t feel bad when people reach out only in the tough times. I feel hashtag#grateful to be their CANDLE.
